1760 – Jefferson enrolls at the College of William and Mary.
1769 – Jefferson wins a seat in the House of Burgesses.
1770 – Shadwell burns down; Construction of Monticello begins
1772 – Jefferson marries Martha Wayles Skelton.
1774 – Jefferson writes the pamphlet A Summary View of the British rights of British America.
1775 – Jefferson is elected to the Continental Congress; American Revolution begins.
1776 – Jefferson writes the Declaration of Independence.
